Toy Soldiers
Click through the slideshow to view detailed image of the Female Toy Soldier Bucket, I created for a friend who is currently in the military.

Sticker and certificate manipulated by adding images of Melissa Alexander, an active American female soldier. Her information is on the side of the bucket, and her belongings kept in her uniform are seen within the bucket. These images include family photos, letters from home, a Bible and more.

This toy soldier was attached to the note and "deployed" into the sky along with 39 others. the group represented a platoon. Once deployed they are to represent American soldiers, but once found by individuals. The single Toy Soldier becomes representative of a friend of family member that person knows.

Government has there hand on all soldiers. Like a little boy playing with toys. The soldier in this picture clings onto the boys hand which represents his desire to revert back to his innocence, but could also be portrayed as clinging to government

For my father. A framed depiction of a childhood story. While rushing to leave for a ship, after his father was deployed overseas, left behind his favorite stuffed puppy dog. In the background is a photograph of him, his sister and mother around the time of the travels. Tunnel book

Boys and the Military
The first image is an intaglio print with watercolor and the soldier in the boys hand is a friend of mine who posed for the photo.
The second image is from a book titled Innocence. I created a two page spread to represent a child growing up to become a soldier, who if read into it like I plan one might also assume he is also a "pop."
The third image is from a tunnel book I created for my father, based off a story he tells from his childhood. It is about how he was affected by living in a military family
